Our client needed to exit ageing data centres and was looking to the flexibility cloud provided for their AIX environment. They also wanted to modernise the AIX and Oracles environment to significantly reduce refresh times for DB, Test Pipes and have fit for purpose DR.

Working in collaboration with a global system integrator, L3C designed and executed the AIX and Oracle DB migration to Skytap on Azure, established fit for purpose HA and DR for the respective workloads and implemented a new backup solution. Over 150 LPARs and VMs were migrated.
As part of the modernisation initiative, L3C implemented advanced scripting as well as automating Test Pipe deployments using Azure DevOps, Terraform and Ansible scripting to reduce Test Pipe deployments from weeks to hours. DR resource switchovers in cloud were also automated to reduce the risk of manual error and delay.
Outcome
The client is now operational in the cloud environment with modern streamlined processes and fit for purpose HA and DR.
